the MSNBC Clicked Blog) use these social news sites to find stories or
sources.
Don't Compete With Yourself
Be careful what you name your link bait ideas. If your link bait is well-executed and
targets keywords important to other pages on your site, the link bait will likely
outrank your other pages in the search results. My SEO for Firefox page nearly

Many old media companies ran region-based monopolies that the web largely
undermines. Due to increased content online, more linkage data, improved search
relevancy, improved ad targeting, and increased competition, the mainstream media
websites are losing market share as their margins are getting compressed.
Many media companies are looking for way to turn their readers into participants
in their news process, but just about any way they can find a signal amongst the
noise search engines will be able to beat them because search engines will be able
to process more raw data from more sources more intelligently and faster.
Communities Killing Themselves
Any time there is uproar in an authority-based system it presents an opportunity
for manipulation via public relations, institutional analysis, or manipulating new
algorithmic holes.
Given enough time, most any community will push its own limits toward self
destruction. Clay Shirky's A Group Is Its Own Worst Enemy highlights this pattern.

Many mainstream media companies pretend that there is a strict line between
editorial and advertising, but consider the following:
